Applying pressure on your ear can increase the intensity of your earache. Make it a point to avoid any weight on the area. When you go to bed, position your head so that there is minimal pressure on your infected ear. If you prefer to sleep on your side, lay down on the side that is on the opposite of your painful ear so that this ear is facing out. It is also advisable to elevate your head so that it is higher than the rest of your body. This will help the fluid in your ear to drain faster.
