To minimize acid reflux and GERD, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) recommends that consumers avoid carbonated drinks. However, evidence on the impact of carbonated drinks in acid reflux is inconclusive. A 2017 study, for example, revealed no link between their consumption and GERD symptoms.
