Lemon juice is thought to be helpful in treating acne. It is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants that help increase collagen levels. Lemon juice has antiseptic properties that may kill bacteria that causes acne. The drying effects of citric acid may also help reduce sebum. In addition, lemon juice is thought to reduce inflammation and redness of the skin.

Lemon juice can be used on your skin as an astringent or a spot treatment. To make an astringent, mix equal parts of fresh lemon juice and water. Apply the mixture as a toner before your moisturizer. To use as a spot treatment, apply lemon juice to your zits with a cotton swab. Leave it on for a few seconds before rinsing it off your face.

It is important to note that lemon juice should be used on the skin with caution. Excessive use could lead to dryness, redness, stinging, itching, burning, or even killing good bacteria. It could also cause hyperpigmentation when used on darker skin tones, and increase the risk of sunburn and sunspots.
