It is common knowledge that chocolate is bad for dogs. The culprit is the theobromine that can be found in all kinds of chocolate, even white ones. Dark chocolate and unsweetened baking chocolate are the most dangerous, followed by milk chocolate. White chocolate contains the lowest amounts of the toxin, but can still be harmful.

If your dog consumes chocolate, the toxin can cause vomiting, diarrhea, excessive thirst, excessive urination, panting, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures, and even death. It is very important to keep any form of these treats away from your dog.
