18 Dangerous Foods Your Dog Should Never Eat

10. Milk and Other Dairy Products

Milk might seem like a sensible drink to give your dog, but it — and other dairy products — can actually cause problems. While it is not really toxic for your pet, it can cause diarrhea and other digestive problems.

Puppies typically have an abundance of an enzyme called lactase, which is needed to digest the lactose in milk. This is needed by them while nursing. But once they are weaned, they produce less lactase and can become lactose intolerant. This means that it becomes difficult for them to digest dairy products.

Consuming dairy products can cause symptoms of lactose intolerance in your dog such as loose stools, vomiting, bloating, constant flatulence, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. It is better to avoid giving your dog dairy to prevent any stomach troubles.
