18 Dangerous Foods Your Dog Should Never Eat

3. Bread Dough

Hyvee

Though bread is generally safe for dogs to eat, bread dough is another matter. The yeast in the dough needs to rise in a warm and moist environment to make bread, and a dog’s stomach provides just the right conditions. If your dog eats bread dough, it would continue to rise, expanding the stomach, and leading to bloating and pain.

But what is even more dangerous is that as the yeast ferments the dough, toxic levels of ethanol may be released into your dog’s bloodstream. This can cause alcohol toxicosis, which can be very dangerous for your dog. If you suspect your pooch may have eaten bread dough, contact your veterinarian immediately.
