18. Xylitol

Indiamart

Xylitol is an artificial sweetener that can help prevent cavities. Though this might sound like a good thing for you, it is definitely not good for your dog. Xylitol triggers insulin release, which may cause your dog’s blood sugar to drop and may lead to liver failure. Some of the early symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, and problems with coordination. Your dog might eventually have seizures, which may result in brain damage.

Xylitol is found in many sugar-free products such as candy and gum, toothpaste, and some nut butters like peanut butter. Be careful that your dog does not eat any food containing Xylitol such as the ones mentioned.

Before handing out any people food to your dogs, it is important to know if it is safe for them to eat. The best thing to do is to talk to your veterinarian first to find out what you can feed your dogs and what else to avoid.
