3. Pain When Coughing

When a person coughs, it normally relieves the blockage in the trachea.  For some persons with pneumonia though, the cough comes with pain in the chest or upper back, or both.  Again, the pain would be difficult to pinpoint to the lungs as this is a referred pain.  Sometimes the pain would be a sharp, stabbing pain.  This is not normal.  It can be a symptom of pneumonia or some other lung issue.  This has to be checked by a medical professional.
