Are Stomach Flu And Food Poisoning The Same?

8. Symptoms of Food Poisoning

Mayo Clinic News Network

Food poisoning, as has been mentioned, will have similar signs and symptoms as stomach flu, for those relating to the digestive tract.  There will often be stomach pain, diarrhea or loose bowel movement, and/or vomiting.  However, food poisoning can also come with signs and symptoms which non-medical persons often disregard as possibly being related to the digestive tract.  Some of these signs and symptoms include high grade fevers (39.4∞C and above), body aches, chills, and profuse sweating.  Dehydration is a usual effect of diarrhea or constant vomiting, so frequent thirst can also be indicators of food poisoning.  Difficulty breathing and fatigue are typical indicators that a person is infected with bacteria instead of a virus.
