13. Incidence of the Stomach Flu
In the United States of America, stomach flu is estimated to account for 19 to 21 Million cases of diarrhea illnesses every year. The current annual estimate is that there are around 685 Million cases of norovirus infection around the world. That figure is just for the norovirus, not yet including the other viruses that also cause stomach flu. Norovirus is considered the most infectious of the viruses that cause stomach flu. It accounts for almost half of the stomach flu cases globally. The disease affects males and females equally.
