6. Irritated Eyes
Another symptom of having the flu is when someone has irritated eyes. This is usually defined by red, itchy, and watery eyes that can even cause an overproduction of tears. This little fact might not be known to everyone, but the eyes are actually connected to the nasal passageways, which is where excess tears produced by the eyes drain into. And when the nose is clogged, these excess tears can also cause the eyes to be extra watery. Because the flu is a virus that affects the mucous membranes of the body, in order to stop the spread of this contagious sickness, try not to rub your eyes but rather use tissue to blot away an excess fluid and dispose of it properly as well.
