12. Headache
Headaches can occur for a number of reasons, but one main one is when a patient is coming down with the flu. Since most flu symptoms include nasal congestion, sneezing and a runny nose, due to the pressure that builds up from these common symptoms around the sinus cavities, headaches often occur. Plus many patients also tend to get dehydrated when they have the flu, which can also cause very painful headaches to occur. This, plus being extra sensitive to light, sound, and smell, can all lead up to a pounding head. Most of the time, medication, rehydration and proper rest will help headaches go away, but if they persist, it is always advisable to see a doctor as soon as possible.
