While this is another symptom of the influenza virus, it’s not one that is as common as the others. Known as petechiae rashes, these are small red or purplish dots that form on the skin, mostly around the stomach, arms, buttocks, legs, eyelids and even inside the mouth. They form due to blood coming out from capillaries that have ruptured due to a number of different factors. When they appear due to influenza, it’s normally because of an ‘increase in blood perfusion to the small vessels.’ But they can also be due to more serious illnesses like dengue, which is why it is incredibly important to get checked by a doctor to get the right diagnose in order to treat the issue properly.
