Flushed skin is another sign that someone is suffering from the flu. If you notice a red tinge to your face and neck, it’s normally due to the inflamed mucous membranes that lie in and around your face and neck, especially in the areas of the nose, eyes and mouth. Another reason for flushed or red skin is due to an increase of blood flow to the skin in order to help regulate the body’s temperature in the hopes that exposing it to cooler temperatures will bring the fever down. This is usually seen in patients with high-grade fevers wherein the virus is heightened in strength.
