One of the conditions that weighted blankets are often used to treat is anxiety. Deep pressure stimulation has been shown to help decrease autonomic arousal, which triggers symptoms of anxiety, such as an increase in your heart rate.

One study found how using a weighted blanket reduced anxiety in around 33 percent of the 32 participants. Some of these participants also experienced a decrease in anxiety when lying down. This could mean that using a blanket while lying down may further lessen symptoms of anxiety.
