Bladder Infection: Symptoms, Remedies, and Prevention

4. Painful Urination

Factdr

One of the most common symptoms of a bladder infection (or any urinary tract infection) is dysuria or painful urination. It might be experienced as mild discomfort during urination, or may cause a burning or stinging sensation. This symptom occurs more frequently in women than in men.

Inflammation in any part of the urinary tract can cause painful urination. The pain may originate from the bladder, kidney, ureters, or urethra.

Other conditions or factors may cause dysuria, but if you get it along with other symptoms such as urinary urgency or urinary retention, you may have a bladder infection.
