Bladder Infection: Symptoms, Remedies, and Prevention

2. Urinary Urgency

Medium

One of the hallmark symptoms of a urinary tract infection, including an infection in the bladder, is urinary urgency. This is when the urge to pee comes on suddenly, and you feel the need to go immediately. Involuntary contractions of the muscle in your bladder trigger this sudden urge.

Urinary urgency may also be caused by other factors such as an overactive bladder, damage to the nerves that control the bladder or using certain medications. If you have a bladder infection, this symptom typically occurs along with urinary frequency.
