Bladder Infection: Symptoms, Remedies, and Prevention

Onhealth

As the name suggests, a bladder infection is an infection in your bladder that is most commonly caused by bacteria. Yeast can also cause a bladder infection if you have a weakened immune system.

This infection is the most common type of urinary tract infection (UTI), which is an infection anywhere in your urinary tract. A UTI can be located in the bladder, kidneys, ureters, or urethra.

A bladder infection most often occurs suddenly (referred to as acute), but it can also be chronic, recurring over a long period of time. It may lead to cystitis, which is inflammation of the bladder.
