10. GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic disorder in which stomach acid rises into the esophagus. Many people have acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux on occasion (GER). Stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus in GER. A doctor may diagnose GERD if a person has persistent acid reflux that happens more than twice a week. The regular, chronic, and long-term incidence of GER is referred to as GERD. The esophagus is a tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. Heartburn and other symptoms, as well as probable tissue damage, are caused by acids in the esophagus.
