4. They fantasize to support their delusions of grandeur.

Narcissists have an overblown sense of grandiosity that isn’t aligned with reality. Because of this, they tend to live with a distorted view of their personal world. They deceive themselves with fantasies of greatness, power, success, beauty, brilliance, or fame. These delusions make them feel special and in control. They either ignore or rationalize any contradicting facts. Narcissists are likely to react with denial or even rage if anything threatens to ruin their fantasy.
