13. Recurring Stye
Styes are red, bulging, and usually painful lumps filled with pus that happen to appear on the edge of the eyelids that usually resemble a pimple or a boil. They can also vary in size and can occur one by one, or in multiple numbers. Although most styes go away in a few days with minor home treatments, there are times when they are recurring or just refuse to go away completely. If this is the case, it could be due to a rare form of cancer called sebaceous gland carcinoma. This rare cancer begins in the oil gland of the skin, normally affecting the eyelids as a result. Although getting styes often doesn’t necessarily mean you have a serious condition, it could mean that you lack general hygiene and need to rev up your hygiene practices more to keep your face and eyes cleaner and bacteria-free.
