6. Stabbing or Sharp Chest Pain
When people experience any type of chest pain, especially stabbing or sharp sensations, the first thought that comes to mind is that they have a gastrointestinal or heart condition. However, when it comes to pneumonia, due to all the labored breathing and constant coughing and wheezing, the chest muscles can become very tired, weak and painful, causing discomfort. Usually, pneumonia causes major inflammation, and because of the buildup of phlegm and pus, it makes it that much harder to take deep breaths, making the chest hurt even more. Regardless of whatever is causing the pain, chest pain should never be ignored and always requires immediate medical attention.
