While there are times when pneumonia can be handled and monitored at home with no issues, there are also times when you need to see a doctor to make sure that your symptoms are not getting worse. If you notice difficulty breathing, chest pain, a persistent cough with blood or pus, fever of 102 °F or higher that won’t go away, get yourself to the emergency room as soon as possible. In addition, patients that are either 65 years and above or children 5 years old and below, especially if they have any other underlying health conditions, should be brought to the doctor immediately. Regardless of any sickness or disease, seeking proper medical attention is always the best thing to do, especially with a sickness that can turn fatal when left untreated.
