17. Alcohol

While rubbing alcohol may seem incredibly harsh as a natural remedy for cold sores, it is still quite effective. Since alcohol has a drying component being that it’s an antiseptic, when placed on a cold sore, it will dry it right up, making the healing process move faster. You can use either a Q-tip or a cotton ball and place the alcohol on either one and rub the alcohol over the sores and affected areas. Stinging is normal, but it’s best to put moisturizer on it afterwards to prevent too much dryness or cracking, which can actually make the cold sore more painful.
