16. Oregano Oil
Although most people associate oregano with their favorite Italian food, this herb is not only meant for cooking. Oregano actually is very antimicrobial, which means that it is a natural antibiotic while being antifungal and acting as a powerful antioxidant as well. When used to treat cold sores, it can help lessen swelling and hasten the healing by killing off the virus within the blisters. Take a Q-tip and drop some oregano oil on it, then place it directly on top of the cold sores a few times a day. Be sure to use a fresh Q-tip during every application to avoid re-infection.
