Another colon cancer symptom is constipation Constipation happens when bowel movements decrease in frequency and stools become a challenge to get rid of. It often comes as a result of dietary changes as well as poor fiber intake, however, there are diseases that are known to be associated with constipation, colorectal cancer being one of them.
Oftentimes, constipation in colon cancer is accompanied by severe pain and blood in stool which should signal you to see a doctor. While obstruction caused by a growing tumor in the colon or rectum adds to the difficulty of passing stool, constipation is also associated with radiation or chemotherapy in the treatment of the disease, if your constipation persists for more than 3 weeks, a visit to the doctor is advised in order to prevent complications and to find out the real cause of your condition.
