14. Diarrhea
Another colon cancer symptom is chronic diarrhea, the frequent passing of loose, watery or oily stool which can come as a result of systemic spread or can be due to the radiation or chemotherapy treatments used to battle the disease. Surgical resection to remove portions of the colon or rectum affected with cancer can also lead to diarrhea, which is why the condition is common in colorectal cancer patients.
Severe diarrhea is dangerous as it can lead to electrolyte loss, preventing vital tissues in the body such as heart muscles and skeletal muscles from properly working. If you are experiencing diarrhea, be sure to visit your doctor at once to prevent complications and to better assess what it is that could be causing your symptoms.
