Ribbon-Like Stool
Stringy, ribbon-like stool may be caused by something as simple as a low fiber diet, however in some cases, it may be a symptom of colorectal cancer. Normal stool is one to two inches wide, while ribbon-like stool is narrow and almost flat. It may be solid or loose in its consistency and may or may not have blood in it. If you do not notice any other symptoms, the risk of cancer is low — but if it worries you, you may want to make an appointment with your doctor, nevertheless.
