12. Hydrogen Peroxide
Cerumen is the medical word for earwax. A cerumenolytic solvent, hydrogen peroxide softens and dissolves earwax. To eliminate excess earwax, a person can use hydrogen peroxide or ear drops containing hydrogen peroxide. Earwax is normally produced in sufficient quantities to protect and clean the ear canal. Ceruminous glands are specialized glands that release fats and acidic compounds that protect the ear against infections. Inside the ear, these fluids trap dead skin cells, dust, and debris. This combination produces the waxy substance known as earwax.
When a person flexes their lower jaw when speaking or eating, earwax is often forced out of the ear canal. If this natural cleansing process fails, earwax can build up in the ear canal.
For a long time, hydrogen peroxide has been utilized as a natural earache cure. Place 5-10 drops in each ear, then lie down for 10 minutes with the hurting ear facing up. Drain and rinse with cold water over the sink. Don’t be intimidated by the bubbles; they can aid in the removal of ear wax.
