Symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia

Types of LBD

Michael J Fox

LBD is the third most common form of dementia, and there are two types of related diagnoses to look out for: dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson’s Disease Dementia. While both conditions have the same underlying changes in the brain, over time the difference lies largely int he timing or cognitive and movement symptoms.  In DLB, cognitive symptoms develop within a year of parkinsonism, while in Parkinson’s Disease Dementia, cognitive symptoms develop more than a year after the onset of movement symptoms.

If you or your loved ones are starting to display signs of LBD, make an appointment to see a specialist to discuss a diagnosis and treatment plan.
