Anxiety is caused by the fear or the thought that something bad is about to happen. When a person feels anxious, this can also manifest as physical symptoms like heightened blood pressure or heart rate and sweating or chills. Anxiety is common for people with dementia. It can make other symptoms of dementia worse, particularly symptoms that affect your attention, planning, organizing, and decision-making skills. It seems to be more common in people with dementia who still have good insight and awareness of their condition.
