COVID-19 Prevention & Treatment

Overall Good Hygiene Habits

Dettol

Aside from frequent hand washing and covering your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, overall good hygiene habits are just as important to prevent getting sick with COVID-19.  With COVID-19 currently at pandemic level, and with some infected people being without symptoms (aka asymptomatic), you will not know for sure whether or not you actually got exposed to the virus.  Overall good hygiene will help prevent you getting infected.

More than just washing hands and covering mouths and noses, people should consider the cleanliness of the entire body.  Showering or bathing at the end of a normal day will decontaminate you if you happen to have caught the virus while you were out in public.  In fact, it is good practice to get cleaned up (i.e. shower or bathe) as soon as you get home from a public place, even before you hug anyone at home.  Clothes you were wearing in a public place should be segregated away from other items in your home.  If you were in a highly populated area, consider washing your clothes as soon as you get home, or at least seal them in a plastic bag until you can get them washed.

Oral hygiene is also part of good hygiene habits, so brush your teeth at least twice a day.  Remember that brushing teeth can also clean out viruses that may have made their way to your mouth, and therefore still reduce the chances of infection.  If not for that, at least brush your teeth frequently so you would not have to endure your own breath while wearing a mask.
