Cover Mouth And Nose When Sneezing And Coughing

Healthline

A person with COVID-19 will often have respiratory issues, which include frequent coughing, frequent sneezing, and a frequent urge to declog their noses by blowing out.  The blowing of noses can be contained with a tissue, followed by the proper disposal of this tissue, and the proper washing of hands.  The frequent coughing and/or sneezing is a potential for spreading the virus, either because the respiratory fluids get suspended in the air while in aerosol form, or the droplets land on someone’s face or hands, or the droplets land on a commonly touched surface.  This is why it is important that people cover their mouth AND nose when coughing or sneezing.  Of course, we already mentioned earlier that, more than covering your mouth and nose with your hand, wearing masks would be more effective in containing the droplets from a sneeze or cough.  So, yes, wearing a mask is the more effective way of covering a sneeze and cough.  If you end up having to use your hand to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough, hopefully you use a tissue to line your hand, dispose this tissue properly, and wash your hands properly after.
