How To Know If Your Child Has Pneumonia

What is Pneumonia?

There are many misconceptions about pneumonia. A lot of parents do not truly understand what it is and what causes it. As a result, these parents tend to miss the signs and symptoms when these manifest in a child. Or just as bad, the parents are able to observe the signs and symptoms, but not having an understanding of the disease, may misdiagnose these as indicators of a far less-serious condition or illness.

Pneumonia, simply put, is an infection of the lungs. This infection causes an inflammation of the air sacs (called alveoli) in either one or both of the lungs. When such and infection occurs, the lungs may fill up with fluid and/or pus.
