One of the warning signs of prediabetes that may appear on your skin is called acanthosis nigricans. This is when dark patches of velvety skin appear on your body, particularly on the neck, armpit, or groin. These dark patches could indicate too much insulin in your blood, which may cause a rapid reproduction of skin cells.
