13 Symptoms That You Could Have COPD

8. Sleep Disturbances

While sleep disturbances are explained as issues with falling asleep or staying asleep, they are usually linked to insomnia, stress, acidity, bad sleeping habits, jetlag and other such reasons, but other times they can also be associated with COPD. That’s because COPD can cause problems with breathing, more so at night, causing patients to either have a hard time sleeping, difficulty falling asleep in the first place, or problems staying asleep throughout the night. COPD also has a tendency to cause a condition known as hypoxemia, or oxygen desaturation, which is when there is a ‘below-normal amount of oxygen in the blood.’ It causes issues with sleep quality, breathing and circulation problems, and even cause mood or anxiety issues when left untreated.
