Chest tightness and chest pain – also known as angina – can be incredibly uncomfortable and worrisome, especially when they are accompanied by shortness of breath, persistent coughing, wheezing, and other such symptoms. And while these symptoms can be due to a number of different medical conditions, COPD is one of them. Because COPD can damage the lungs and airways because of excess mucus formation, it can also become so extreme that it causes pain and tightness in the chest, making it almost unmanageable at times. And even worse yet, under extreme conditions, it may even be fatal. Normally, doctors will prescribe a variety of treatments that include medication, oxygen treatment, pulmonary rehabilitation, and other forms of therapy to make it not only tolerable, but to ease the adverse side effects that usually comes with having COPD.
