Sick of unexplained weight gain because of age? This new “spring cleaning” health technique might be the answer to your problems to permanently increase your metabolism like it once was! What is the secret to this buzzed-about discovery? Neutralizing hidden acid.

Because of all the stress, junk food and toxins that remain in our bodies, they leave acidic waste in our systems, “and by age 45, 95 percent of us have a dangerous buildup,” says the bestselling book by author Ross Bridgeford entitled Alkaline Reset Cleanse ($13.10, Amazon). Bridgeford is a health coach with millions of readers have reported to losing up to 18 pounds in only a week.

“Growing research suggests it’s often the main factor driving weight gain, fatigue, premature aging and countless health problems. Once the buildup is gone, you let go of fat easily and feel much better. Plus, you continue to transform for months, even if your diet isn’t perfect. The results are phenomenal!”

Why is Acid fattening?

When nutrients that are acid-neutralizing get depleted from the body, “research shows that you no longer produce key weight-control hormones properly,” says Bridgeford. Some of these acids include the hormone HGH, also known as the “fountain of youth” which is gives energy and keeps metabolism high and the flat-belly hormone adiponectin. Acidity can also cause chronic inflammation in cells which is linked to low energy, obesity, aging, joint pain, heart disease, and a longer list of symptoms showing age.

According to Bridgeford, one thing that makes it even worse is that, “to get acid out of the blood and away from vital organs, the body creates new fat cells to store it in.” Because those cells stay locked, it becomes “unburnable” until the acid can be handled. “For most, the problem gets worse and worse over time.”

What is the fastest solution?

In order to lower acidity intake, all we need to do is limit the new acid that enters our systems, says Bridgeford. How do we do this? By skipping coffee, processed food, sugar, wheat and meat while loading up on alkalinizing food in order to neutralise the acidity that we already have stored in our bodies. What types of food are alkalinizing? Vegetables, lemon, beans, nuts, avocado, healthy fats, herbs and spices.

A daily intake of freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and purees is also recommended because blended food makes nutrients easier to absorb, therefore getting the benefits faster. “As you reduce demand on your body’s acid-buffering system, it finally begins to tackle the backlog of acid waste building up for years. That’s the goal,” says Bridgeford.

Scientists at the University of Alberta found that reducing acidity increases HGH significantly with women over 50, which is the key to fat loss, increased strength and memory, as well as protecting the heart and improving the quality of life in all aspects. The University of Texas also concluded that people with less acid in their systems have BMIs 52% lower than those with more.

“If you want to lose weight for the long term, you have to get your acid load down,” says Bridgeford. Stephen Domenig, MD, leading alkaline expert in Europe agrees with Bridgeford. He continuously prescribes his patients with alkaline regimens in the Center for Detoxing in Austria and said that “you’ll look like you had liposuction and a facelift!”
