Normal skin color ranges from dark brown, to light brown, to pinkish flesh.  There is not one color of skin that is more normal than the other.  In the case of Deep Vein Thrombosis, however, it could alter a person’s normal skin color, particularly on the affected body part.  This is not just the redness that you read about earlier in the article, the one caused by the accumulation of blood in a certain area of the body.  At its more advanced stages, Deep Vein Thrombosis can cause blood vessel damage, and thereby cause bruising in the affected body part.  The pressure buildup in the blood vessels could cause some ruptures in the veins, allowing some blood to leak out under the skin, which then manifest as black and blue discoloration on the skin.  The discoloration may or may not be painful, but the swelling that comes with it usually is.
