Signs And Symptoms Of Blood Clot In Your Legs

 REDNESS

Peripheral Vascular Associates

Skin redness can be caused by several things.  Sunburns and rashes cause reddening of the skin.  Depending on the severity, those types of redness may or may not be a cause for concern.

In the case of Deep Vein Thrombosis, the redness is due to the blood accumulation in the affected body part.  When blood rushes to any body part, there is a tendency for that body part to look flushed and red.  This happens when you blush, or when you have a warm pad on your skin, or when you slap your arm repeatedly (or when someone else slaps you, but that would be a different story).

If you observe redness on your leg, especially on the lower part of your leg, or on any body part, check yourself for other symptoms.  If the redness occurs with swelling and/or pain, especially if you have been sitting still for long periods of time, this would be a cause for concern.  Simply put, this could be Deep Vein Thrombosis, and checking with a medical doctor would be recommended.

As with any rushing of blood to a specific body part, there is a tendency for that body part to be warm to the touch.
