13 Signs Of Borderline Personality Disorder

5. Stress-related Paranoia

Medium

Many persons with borderline personality disorder (BPD) develop paranoia or paranoid thinking when they are stressed. Paranoia is a phrase that refers to strong feelings of mistrust or suspicion of others’ malevolent intentions. People suffering from paranoia may believe, for example, that the government is listening in on their phone conversations or that their spouse is having an affair.

Paranoid thought, or ideation, can range from moderate and transient to severe and long-lasting. Some people who suffer psychotic illnesses like schizophrenia or delusional disorder experience severe, persistent paranoid thought that has no basis in reality.
