5. Shortness Of Breath

Runny noses are difficult to breathe through.  Frequent coughing due to excessive phlegm is exhausting.  Because of these two factors, persons with bronchitis will often be short of breath.  This is usually not a cause for concern.  However, if the shortness of breath is already at a level that you are having a hard time breathing, as if you cannot get enough air or are gasping for air already, or you are getting lightheaded because of it, it is time to consult with a doctor.  For people who have asthma, this shortness of breath has been known to trigger asthma attacks.
