Stomach Flu And Food Poisoning Prevention And Treatment

Stomach Flu and Food Poisoning Prevention

NYOOOZ

“An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”  This adage, of course, is referring to diseases (although it’s also applicable to accidents).

For some people, cases of stomach flu or food poisoning would resolve after a couple of days or about a week, some even without treatment.  However, for people whose immune systems are weak or compromised, stomach flu or food poisoning can be fatal.  People with weak or compromised immune systems, like children 2 years old and younger, adults 65 years and older, cancer patients, and diabetics, can suffer complications of what to others would be simple illnesses.  This is why it is very important to prevent stomach flu and food poisoning altogether.

Vaccines, good hygiene practices, segregation of personal items, physical distancing or avoiding close personal contact, proper food handling, food safety practices, sanitation and disinfection practices, and travel precautions are proven effective ways to prevent disease transmission.  These are precautions that would help protect one from catching or spreading the viruses and bacteria that cause gastroenteritis.
