Good Food For Protein

Fish And Seafood Protein

Tufts Health

Fish and seafood are meats, and therefore count as “complete protein”. They contain all 9 essential amino acids. Most people are familiar with fish being a source of Omega-3 fatty acids, and hopefully just as many know that they are a good source of amino acids in the form of protein. Different fish species contain different concentrations of protein. Among the higher concentrations of protein, you have tuna with 28g of protein for every 100g of meat, different species of salmon range from 23g-26g per 100g of meat, tilapia have 26g, and sardines have 25g. Of course, fish can be cooked in a variety of ways (sometimes, not even cooked — think sushi and sashimi!), so it is all up to the consumer how they want their fish prepared.

There are other sources of protein amongst seafood. For every 100g of meat, Lobsters have 16g of protein, squids have 18g, and crabs have 19g. And just like fish, these seafood can be prepared in a variety of ways.
