Good Food For Protein

Yoghurt

Times of India

Yoghurt, in general, is a great protein source. But not all yoghurts are created equal as a protein source. Greek yoghurt is heralded as the best protein source amongst the varieties of yoghurt. On average, Greek yoghurt contains 10g protein per 100g yoghurt. More than just containing all 9 essential amino acids, Greek yoghurt contains these essential amino acids in the proportions most optimal for effective protein synthesis (how the body utilizes the proteins).

Greek yoghurt is available in most grocery stores. It can be eaten on its own, albeit it is naturally very sour. It is available both sweetened and unsweetened, and can be used as a topping for desserts, or as salad dressing, or as a dip for chips or fruits, or as an addition to smoothies and shakes. There are some ice cream brands that offer yoghurt as a substitute for ice cream, too.
