COVID-19 Signs and Symptoms

8. Nasal Congestion or Sinus Pressure

Breathe Right

The inflammation of the nasal passages, combined with the build-up of mucous in the nasal passages (the runny nose, remember), produces an actual nasal congestion, which feels like sinus pressure.  This is one of the resultant symptoms of COVID-19.  It is a symptom that can happen with any disease that causes you to have a runny nose, even those diseases not caused by Coronaviruses.  Thus, there is no need to panic, but do take it as a warning sign that there is an infection that needs to get checked.

Over-the-counter medications for colds will address the particular symptom of nasal congestion.  However, the resolution of the nasal congestion does not mean that the virus that caused it has been eliminated.  It is still a good idea to observe yourself (or the sick one in your care) for this symptom, and consider it along with the other symptoms in this article, so you would have a better picture to relay to your Medical Doctor when you do consult with one.
