COVID-19 Signs and Symptoms

16.  Chest Pain or Pressure

American Heart Association

Chest pain or pressure is considered a serious symptom, regardless of the cause.  This symptom is often correlated to heart issues, and rightly so, because heart attacks and cardiac arrests sometimes manifest as chest pain or pressure.  However, respiratory issues, like pneumonia, have also been known to cause pain in the chest.  COVID-19 can cause respiratory issues, progress to pneumonia, and thus can indeed manifest as chest pain or pressure.

Because chest pain or pressure is a possible indicator respiratory issues, as well as cardiac issues (e.g. heart attack or cardiac arrest), this symptom needs to be taken seriously.  When chest pain or pressure is experienced, it would be important to get checked by a Medical Doctor immediately.
