Causes And Cures For Passing Gas

6. Use Enzyme Supplements

Scientific American

Enzyme supplements?  Is there such a thing?  Yes, and they just might be able to help your digestive system process food more efficiently.  A particular enzyme supplement of choice would be one that contains an enzyme called a-galactosidase.  This enzyme helps breakdown complex carbohydrates within the small intestines, instead of passing these on to the large intestines to ferment and pass out as gas.  One brand of popular over-the-counter medication that contains a-galactosidase is Beano®.  When taken before a meal that has gas-producing foods, it lessens the chances of flatulence at the end of the meal.  Note, it can only lessen the flatulence, not eliminate it.  So, if your food for the meal has a high fiber content, or contains lactose or a food for which you have an intolerance, you are still likely to be farting, although maybe not as much.
