Causes And Cures For Passing Gas

3.  Eat Slowly

GOQii

Sometimes there is extra gas in your gut because it entered through your mouth.  Like when you eat, it is inevitable that you will swallow some gas along with your food and drink.  There is no way to stop that.  However, you can lessen it.  When you eat slowly, chewing your food more, you are also squeezing out much of the excess gas before you swallow, so you end up swallowing less gas.  Same is true when drinking.  Drink slowly, as in sip, instead of gulp, and you will swallow less air in the process.

Eating slowly and chewing your food more also has other health benefits.  For starters, you also tend to eat less because the feeling of fullness, which takes time to register from your stomach to your brain, will set in before you’re able to pack in that much food.  Basically, what happens is that your stomach could already be full, but it takes time before your brain realizes this.  By eating slowly, you would give your stomach more time to tell your brain to stop you from eating before you fill your stomach to the brim.
