Causes of Central Vertigo

Though not as common as peripheral vertigo, a problem in the brain, particularly the cerebellum, can cause central vertigo.

The cerebellum, which is located in the back of the brain, is responsible for a number of functions, such as balance and coordination. A tumor in this part of the brain can cause symptoms of vertigo.

Other conditions that may result in vertigo include stroke, migraine, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, anxiety disorders, allergies, and using certain medications.
